(Alabama Gulf Coast)
Dauphin Island is your go-to beach destination with your dog on the Gulf of Mexico between Florida and Texas. The beaches start to the west of Highway 193 on the island and it is mere seconds from parking lot to wide expanses of white sand. Walking east along the shore you will soon enough find low-lying dunes and the calm waters of a back bay where your dog will be sharing the water with windsurfers. If the city beach gets too crowded try the scruffy gray sands of the beach behind Fort Gaines at the eastern tip of the island. The only beach that bans dogs on Dauphin Island is all the way at the West End where folks have to pay for the disappointment of not bringing their dogs.
